BELFAST — Lingering hot spots at the Penobscot McCrum fire on the Belfast waterfront resulted in a request from the Belfast Fire Department for Camden to respond with a small crew and its ladder truck.

The firefighters today, March 25, are continuing to extinguish any flareups within the debris that was once the facility that employed 170, and processed Aroostook County potatoes to French fries and other products.

The fire that destroyed the facility has been traced to a fryer, according to the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.

Layers of debris and building material are still burning, and the Camden ladder truck is being used to extend over the site and bore down on it with water.
