Camden Conference virtual program explores architecture and democracy
Join architects Brooke Harrington and Judy Bing for an illuminating exploration of how architecture reflects and shapes democratic ideals. From ancient civilizations to modern American institutions, discover how the built environment has both served and symbolized democratic governance through the ages.
Architecture and Democracy: Historic and Contemporary Perspectives will be presented Sunday, Jan. 26, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., via Zoom. Please contact the Library for the Zoom link at cushinglibrary@cushing.lib.me.us or (207) 354-8860.
Presenters J. Brooke Harrington, Professor Emeritus of Architecture, Temple University, and Judith Bing, Professor Emerita of Architecture, Drexel University, are both residents of Cushing, Maine.
"They bring decades of research and expertise to this fascinating intersection of architectural design and democratic principles," said a news release.
This virtual community event is hosted by the Cushing Public Library and offered as a free community event in anticipation of the 38th Annual Camden Conference – Democracy Under Threat: A Global Perspective, February 21-23, 2025, live at the Camden Opera House and live-streamed to the Strand Theatre in Rockland, Lunt Auditorium in Falmouth, and to homes and classrooms worldwide.
