The Salty Dog, a a full-service pet grooming shop in Camden, has expanded, and acquired the Appleton Ridge Pet Care kennels and grooming business, on Route 17 in Union.

With more than 25 years of grooming experience, the Salty Dog offers botanical baths, clips for all breeds, pawdicures, therapeutic skin treatments, and the best care for four-legged friends.

Call to book spa appointments, (207) 230-8208, or stop by. Walk-ins welcome.

With Appleton Ridge, the Salty Dog now has two locations, with a third one on the way later this year, said owner Nichole Dupere, who has 30 years of experience in the grooming business and six years of working in the business of veterinary medicine.

“This is not your average boarding/grooming/daycare facility,” she said, in a news release. “Our family is fully hands-on with 30 years in the business. These dogs are treated like our own and it’s not uncommon to find one of our kids snuggling with our four-legged guests.”

Appleton Ridge Pet Care offers full-service grooming by Heather Leeman, formerly of the Animal House in Damariscotta.

Boarding and daycare will be overseen by Dupere’s family and Norma Jean Pease, “who has an extensive animal welfare and veterinary background,” said Dupere. Our daughter, Gabby, manages the Salty Dog at our Camden location and is also a kennel hand. She looks forward to our family taking on new locations. Gabby has been in our studios/kennels since she was 2 and is now almost 20. She has a true love and compassion for all animals.”

Both the Camden and Union locations require proof of vaccinations that include rabies, distemper and kennel cough.
