Camden and Rockport agree to five-year wastewater agreement

(Photo courtesy Town of Rockport)CAMDEN — The Camden Select Board approved a five-year wastewater disposal agreement with the Town of Rockport, marking a significant step forward in regional collaboration and infrastructure management, according to a joint news release from the two towns.
The agreement, which was approved at the Select Board’s meeting May 20, provides for the continued treatment of Rockport’s wastewater at Camden’s wastewater treatment facility. The contract ensures stable, long-term service for Rockport while supporting operational planning and fiscal responsibility for both municipalities, the release said.
"Importantly, the agreement also brings to a close all pending litigation between the two towns related to wastewater services," the release said. "Officials from both Camden and Rockport expressed satisfaction with the resolution and emphasized their mutual commitment to cooperation and shared goals."
The Rockport Select Board will ratify the agreement at its June Select Board meeting on June 11.
The agreement will take effect following Rockport Select Board’s adoption of the agreement and both towns have pledged to maintain open lines of communication and collaboration throughout its duration, the release said.
