BROOKS — A Brooks man was arrested Oct. 30 and charged with two counts of assault following a report of domestic violence.

Daniel Lane, 41, was arrested following an investigation by Waldo County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cassandra McDonald.

During the course of her investigation, the Sheriff’s Office in a press release said that McDonald learned that at the time of the complaint, Lane was and remains under bail conditions prohibiting contact with the complainant.

The complainant told McDonald that Lane had assaulted her “several times over a two-day period,” according to the report.

Lane was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault and violating conditions of release.

McDonald also made contact with Lane’s current probation officer, who requested he be placed under a probation hold in addition to being held on the new charges. This means Lane will be held without bail until a hearing before a judge.

Lane was transported to Waldo County Correctional Center.
