BELFAST — BiblioQuilts, an exhibit of mixed media works by Larry Clifford, will be on display in the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library, December 1- 31, 2022. The gallery is located on the ground floor of the library, located at 106 High Street.

Clifford’s mixed media work is a celebration of books, booklovers, libraries, and bookstores. His vibrant BiblioQuilt series was created using discarded books salvaged from basements, barns, attics and public libraries. They’re not made of cloth. The artist repurposes every part of those books —the covers, the pages, the spines—breathing new life into his materials with the addition of dyes, inks, and acrylics.

After earning a B.A. in Art from Northwestern University and an M.A. in Biomedical Communications from the University of Texas, Clifford spent 15 years producing award-winning biomedical illustrations, with an emphasis on traditional media like pen-and-ink, carbon dust, and watercolor. Eventually, he switched to strategic planning, marketing, and business development for the healthcare sector.

At this stage of his career, he is thrilled to be getting back to his roots as a maker of fine art, according to a news release.
