Beverly ‘Becky’ Madore, obituary
ROCKLAND – Beverly “Betty” Vigue Madore passed away on Feb. 9, 2016, after a period of declining health.
She was born March 28, 1921, the youngest of six children of David P. and Alice Dow Vigue. Betty graduated from Waterville High School in 1939. On April 25, 1942, she married Wilfred (Fred) J. Madore, and in 1952 the couple moved to Rockland.
Betty worked as office assistant to Dr. Robert S. Chisholm, and later as librarian at Rockland Middle School, where she encouraged children to become life-long readers. Betty was an active member of St. Bernard's Parish, the Daughters of St. Bernard and the Red Hat Society. Betty enjoyed music, dancing, traveling and family gatherings. Betty will be remembered for crafting beautiful May baskets, which she filled with homemade candies, for creating specially requested birthday cakes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for telling Vigue family stories.
Her husband, Fred; and her daughter, Jill E. Madore, predeceased her. Betty is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey P. Madore and his wife, Sally, and Jay A. Madore and his wife, Sue Tinker; three grandchildren, Anthony M. Madore, Ryan C. Tinker and his wife, Jennifer, and Megan L. Tinker; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, D. Peter Vigue and his wife, Doreen.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Knox Center for their compassionate care-giving.
