Belfast UU Youth Chorus winter session begins in Feb. 24

Wed, 01/17/2024 - 5:00pm

BELFAST — The Belfast UU Youth Chorus is continuing its free and enriching ensemble in support of young singers, according to Ethan Tischler, in a news release.

The Belfast UU Youth Chorus is a safe, fun and musically challenging environment for young singers in the Midcoast area. The chorus is open to all singers ages 12-18, rehearsing and performing a broad range of traditional and contemporary material. This ensemble is ideal for young vocalists who are seeking a supportive musical community in which to develop their own voices and musical skills, according to Tischler.

Singers will exercise their abilities to learn by ear, broaden their vocal range, hone their intonation, and carry complex harmonies in small groups. The group meets once a week on Monday evenings, from 7 - 8 p.m.; singers may also choose to share their work at 1-2 services a month on Sunday mornings – no church affiliation required.

The choir is led by Ethan Tischler, local musician and music educator. Tischler has over 10 years experience teaching and directing music in both youth and adult ensembles. In addition to leading the Belfast UU Youth Chorus, he teaches at the Children’s House Montessori School in Camden, at Bagaduce Music Library in Blue Hill, and in the public schools as a Teaching Artist with Belfast Flying Shoes. He also performs with the Gawler Family Band, the duo Elsie and Ethan, and the trio Springtide.
