BELFAST — What the Halloween weather lacked in autumn chill it made up for with wind and sporadic rain, though there was no dampening of the holiday spirit in the many trick-or-treaters who traversed Cedar Street.

Cedar Street is a longtime popular Belfast destination for trick-or-treaters from all over Waldo County, with many of the houses lining the street participating in the festivities to some degree. There were several larger displays for the hundreds of costumed celebrants to admire as they crisscrossed the road from home to home.

One house had inflatable decorations which included pieces inspired by “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” while another home created a makeshift graveyard, with none other than Pennywise waiting to hand out the candy. Other houses blasted spooky sounds into the misty evening, with it sometimes difficult to discern whether the sounds of whipping winds were genuine or artificial.

Belfast Police had an officer stationed on the street in addition to another cruiser driving the length of the road periodically, to monitor for speed and any possible issues that may arise.

Although this year’s Halloween was much wetter than usual, smiles, candy, and costumes still ruled the night, making this Halloween another success.
