WALDO — Eighth graders at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast were the first time participants in TECHsploration, a pilot program launched the week of December 9, by Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC).

TECHsploration is an immersion experience that allows students to spend a full morning or afternoon in a technical program of their choice. This exposure gives eighth graders a sense, before they reach high school, of possible career choices and of what actually happens in the programs at WCTC.

In this inaugural year, only Belfast students have participated, but it is the hope of the Tech Center to expand this program to Mount View and Searsport middle schools in future years, according to the Technical Center, in a news release.

The MELMAC foundation provided snacks and T-shirts for this event.
