Belfast Ice Festival 2025 seeks ice carvers, sponsors
BELFAST — The new year has arrived and that means that the Annual Belfast Ice Festival and State of Maine Ice Carving Championship hosted by Our Town Belfast (OTB) is just around the corner, February 21 – 23, 2025. OTB is looking for ice sculpture sponsors and ice carving competition competitors.
“We are aiming to have at least twenty-five ice sculptures sponsored this year and ten people compete in Saturday’s competition. That is what brings people to Belfast so the more, the better,” said Amanda Cunningham, Our Town Belfast’s Executive Director, in a news release. “Anyone can sponsor in full or cosponsor a sculpture. This is a major event for our community that gets bigger every year.”
Ice sculptures will arrive on Friday morning and be placed throughout town during the day. Restaurants will be busy setting up their ice bars or outside spaces as well. More events and promotions will be planned and added to the lineup closer to the end of February.
Saturday is the day with the most traffic, according to OTB.
The Annual State of Maine Ice Carving Championship will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., on the corner of Main and Cross streets.
Rollie’s Bar & Grill and Rollie’s Remote Catering again sponsor this year’s event. OTB is looking for competitors in two categories – hand tools or mechanical. This is a change in 2025. The hand tool category will have four (4) hours to complete their sculpture while the mechanical tools will have only two. There is also a $15 entry fee that is new this year to help cover the cost of the ice block. The ten sculptures from the competition add to the festive atmosphere of the festival and will remain the same as all the others, until they melt.
