NATURE OUTING

Winter Tree Identification Walk on the Belfast Rail Trail, Saturday, December 2

Learn or review your winter trees using clues other than leaves. The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the central parking lot on the Rail Trail, on outer High Street. The outing will involve two hours of walking and examining conifers and how to know bare trees by their twigs and bark. Dress appropriately for the weather. ADA accessible. NEW NATURE PROGRAM, BEGINNING JANUARY 2024

Be a Naturalist, a year-long program with Cloe Chunn of the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition

“We don’t have to be experts to share our love and enjoyment of our natural surroundings,” said Cloe Chunn, a naturalist, educator, author and registered Maine Guide, in a BBWC news release. “Folks of all ages are welcome to join this year-long nature circle, with opportunities to experience and learn about wildlife and the natural world throughout all four seasons.”

This free program starts in January 2024 and ends December 2024. The program includes seven indoor classes, as well as monthly field trips. Some guidebooks and equipment are recommended.
