SOUTH THOMASTON — Barry Lee Mohr, 76, passed away quickly, and unexpectedly, from natural causes at his home on Spruce Head Island on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Born on July 2, 1945 in Vera Cruz Pennsylvania to Marcus and Bessie (Fink) Mohr, he was educated in local schools.

Barry was the father of one, and grandfather of two. He lived next door to them for fifteen odd years, visiting them often, as family was very important to him.

Barry moved to Maine only a few years after his wife, Helen, passed. He moved up with two dogs and four cats, and when he passed away, he had a dog and three cats – all different. He enjoyed animals, having been raised
rurally with lots of farm animals.

He made sure to keep in touch with extended family, including his nieces and nephews, as well as his wife’s siblings. Barry’s sister, and only sibling, had passed away only a couple months before him.

Barry spent most of his time before retirement, working for Electro Chemical Engineering and Manufacturing in Pennsylvania, as a Teflon Applicator. Before that, he spent some time working for the Walt Disney Company in Florida doing illustrations. Unfortunately, things did not pan out well, and Barry deemed it much more important to take care of family, so he moved back to Pennsylvania.

He absolutely loved Disney, and he truly found it to be magical. He would watch it while babysitting his niece Jeannie and held onto movies and mementos from early Disney. He also enjoyed vacationing to Disney World, and enjoyed watching people who streamed going around Disney World.

He enjoyed other things, of course. He loved Sherlock Holmes, and Dr. Who, and enjoyed many British detective shows and mysteries. He spent much of his day playing Farmville on Facebook, sending gifts to people and building up his virtual farm. He also had an interest in painting (which he was very good at), along with photography, and gardening.

Barry was above all else, a family-oriented person, and enjoyed having a relatively calm and quiet lifestyle (much like his family). He was always willing to help if ever they needed anything and will be greatly missed.

Predeceased by his parents, his wife, and a sister, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kufrovich, and his grandchildren Antonio and Julian Kufrovich, all of South Thomaston.

At this time no services will be held locally. Barry will be laid to rest next to his wife, Helen, in Chestnut Hill Church Cemetery in Coopersburg Pennsylvania at a later date.

Because if Barry’s love for animals, his family invites you to make donations in his memory to the Pope Memorial Humane Society, PO Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841 or online at www.popehumane.org/give-now/
