ROCKPORT — We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Barbara R. Post on November 27, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born October 10, 1967 in Rockland, Maine, the daughter of Ashley and Diane (Smith) Post.

Barb grew up on Spruce Head Island and attended local schools, graduating in 1985 from Rockland High School. Following graduation she wintered in Boca Grande, Florida working at the Gasparilla Inn for a number of years. Thus began her life’s vocation of service in the food industry, always dedicated and hard working.

Together with her life partner, Stephen Fiske, they built their home in Rockport and together raised their two daughters, Sarah and Hannah.

In Barb’s spare time she loved to take in the sun, garden, and go to the beach to collect special rocks that she displayed around her home. She also enjoyed just hanging out with friends, especially her best friend, Julie Ryan.

Love of family, friends and home was an important part of Barb’s life and she brought so much joy and light into all our lives.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Elsie and Ralph Colby; grandmother Helen Post; Stephen’s parents, Pat and Percy Fiske; and her aunt and uncle Linda and Walter Butler.

She is survived by her life time partner, Stephen Fiske; daughters, Sarah and Hannah; parents, Ashley and Diane Post;  sisters, Leslie (William) Morris, and Deborah Post and partner Randy Gardner; brother, Mark Post; aunts, Marlene (Steve) Campbell, Linda Post; grandfather Edgar Post; cousin, Howard (Mary) Hunt; brothers-in-law, Percy Fiske, Jr., Mark (Nicky) Fiske; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be announced in the spring.
