Barbara Peters, obituary
WALDOBORO — Barbara A. Peters, 78, died peacefully May 9, 2014, surrounded by her family, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, following a long illness.
Born Sept. 17, 1935, in Waldoboro, she was the daughter of Afton and Doris Young Feltis. She was educated in Waldoboro schools.
Over the years Barbara has been employed with Port Clyde Canning, North Lubec Canning and also worked at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro.
Her children remember her as a loving, caring person who never complained and was always smiling. They said she loved to spend time with family, having cookouts. She loved to eat lobster, especially lobster stew.
Barbara had a kind soul, and she doted on her two special companions, dachshunds, Baby Cakes and Lilly. She also had a special place in her heart for her bird, Allen, that was given to her more than 20 years ago.
She loved going for rides and looking for yard sales. She was an enthusiastic Elvis fan and had an extensive collection of memorabilia.
Barbara will be missed by all who knew her.
Predeceased by her brothers, Roger E. Feltis and Maynard Feltis; and an infant daughter, Dorothy Marie Heino; Barbara is survived by her sons, George Heino Jr. and his companion, Rachel Carter, of Cushing, and Paul Heino and his wife, Inez, of Thomaston; a sister, Jenny Feltis of Waldoboro; her grandchildren, Kaylee Heino and Dominic Heino; her step-granddaughter, Ashley Wiley; a step-great-grandchild, Addison K.; a nephew and his wife, Roger and Melody Feltis; and a special friend, whom she called “Nanny,” Alice Feltis all of Waldoboro; and her former husband, with whom she remained friends, Charles Peters of Waldoboro.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the German Cemetery on Bremen Road in Waldoboro.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland.
