Barbara P. Ratermann Keenan, obituary
LINCOLNVILLE — Barbara Palmyra Ratermann Keenan, also known as GiGi, age 94, died Friday, October 2, 2020 peacefully at home.
Barbara was born August 5, 1926 in El Paso Texas to Julius Augustus and Helen Longuemire Ratermann. She graduated from the Loretta Academy in El Paso and attended the local college. She married Edward Thomas
Keenan from Long Island, New York on a June 10, 1950 in El Paso, Texas. Barbara and Ed built a rich and meaningful life full of travel, sailing, and raised seven children together.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; father, Julius; mother, Helen; brothers, Buddy and Andrew; and sisters, Mary, Helen and Francis.
She is survived by her 7 children, Thomas (Jeanette), Palmyra David), Christoper (Mary), Kevin, Andy (Carole), Kathleen (Ken) and James, 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Barbara was a devout Catholic, always volunteering for the less fortunate. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Hope in Camden. She had many passions in life, and was an amazing dancer, loved birds and trees, jigsaw puzzles, card games and 5:00 wine time. In her words “I love my wine and my life.”
Her biggest accomplishment were her children, whom she loved deeply. It is impossible to summarize 94 years of living in words, being kind to each other was important to Barbara.
