MEDFORD, Mass. — Autumn Anne Roy of Medford, Mass., formerly of Portland and Burkettville, passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital. Born Sept. 28, 1981, she was the daughter of Richard L. and Allene Rose (King) Roy and grew up in Burkettville. Autumn attended Appleton Village School and was an honors graduate of Camden Rockport High School, Class of 1999. She went on to the University of New England in Biddeford, where she graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Science degree for integrated health and wellness and an associate degree in nursing.

Her employment history included Cambridge Health Alliance, Maine Medical Partners, Southern Maine Medical Center and Scarborough Family Medicine.

Autumn was an athlete and discovered her passion in life was running. In high school, she participated in several sports, including the swim team, cross-country skiing, cross-country running and the track team. She started running at the Appleton Village School, and continued through high school and college. At UNE, she was captain of the women's cross-country team. Autumn also participated in the Junior Olympics, and in the Susan G. Komen Tri for the Cure. In 2004, she completed the P.F. Chang Rock n' Roll Arizona Marathon in Phoenix, and went on to run another half marathon.

Autumn loved adventure and enjoyed skydiving, and she backpacked the Hermit Trail in the Grand Canyon. In more recent years she spent the summer months sailing with her boyfriend and found great pleasure in learning how to navigate the sailboat.

An outgoing person, Autumn made friends easily. She had fond memories of Camp NEOFA in Montville, where she later became a camp counselor, and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Bruins. She followed the band Phish, attending several of their concerts, and during high school was in musical Guys 'n Dolls.

Her family and friends will remember her being barefoot and with a smile. She loved nothing better than to walk through mud puddles or stand on the top bleacher playing the trombone in her bare feet with the Pep Band in high school during basketball games.

Autumn is survived by her beloved boyfriend, Brian Blenkhorn, and their precious cat, "Rippy" Ripkin of Medford, Mass.; her mother, Allene Rose King Roy, and her father, Richard L. Roy of Burkettville; three sisters, Colleen Roy Stoker and her husband, Matthew, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Crystal Roy and her partner, Mary Ann Brown, of Waterville; and Haley Roy and her boyfriend, Matthew Favaloro, of Somerville, Mass.; and Brian's parents, Gary and Rosalie Blenkhorn of Cape Elizabeth. She is also survived by her paternal aunts and uncles, Lena and Floyd Pease, of Lincolnville; Dorothy and Earl Weaver, of Camden; Annette Nash of Rohnert Park, Calif.; Brenda and Ray Rogers of Spokane, Wash.; and Kathleen and Bill Packard, of Union; her maternal aunts and uncles, Eugene and Jean King, Doreen Moore, Dottie King, and Shirley and David Wyllie, all of Warren; and Paul and Debbie King and George and Janet King, all of Union; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Autumn was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Silvio and Chloe Roy of Burkettville; her maternal grandparents, George and Gertrude King of Union; a paternal uncle, Silvio Roy of Burkettville; maternal uncles, Martin King of Warren and Lloyd Moore of Warren; and a cousin, Sandy Peckham of Union.
