Author Ruth Monsell spotlights Frances Perkins, June 4, in Camden

    CAMDEN — Ruth Monsell of Camden will do her first Maine presentation on her new book, Frances Perkins, Champion of American Workers, a biography of the first woman cabinet member, Tuesday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m., at the Camden Public Library.

    “Perkins was not only Secretary of Labor for 12 years under FDR, but in fact the driving force behind Social Security and most New Deal legislation,” said CPL, in a news release. “Learn about the phenomenal legacy of this woman overlooked by history books.”

    Included will be a talk, slide show, readings, a Q&A and book signings. Bring your teens, as this book was written to inspire both adults and young adults.

    The presentation is free to the public and no registration is necessary.
