Applications available for Bay Chamber’s 2024 Young Stars of Maine Prize Program

    Bay Chamber is accepting applications for the Young Stars of Maine Prize Program – due April 12, 2024. For over 50 years, Bay Chamber has awarded prizes to Maine students who have made a significant commitment to their musical studies.

    Young Stars of Maine prizewinners have gone on to careers at the Metropolitan Opera as well as major symphonies and conservatories throughout the world.

    Prize awards are $1,000, in nine categories, for individuals and chamber ensembles and encompass a wide range of musical genres. In addition to the prize monies, Young Stars are invited to perform for the public in a free concert scheduled for May 23, 2024. 

     

    Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School is also accepting applications for the Envision Chamber Music Workshop, a week-long music camp for young musicians ages 9-18 in Camden. This year’s program will begin Monday, August 5, 2024 and conclude on Friday, August 9, 2024 with a performance on the final afternoon of the program. The daily schedule is 9 AM to 4 PM with time devoted to rehearsals and coachings, other musical workshops, and outdoor activities.

    2024 faculty include Sophie and Josie Davis, Julia Henderson, Margarita Rovenskaya, Luke Fatora and Colin Wheatley. This five-day program is open to individual applicants playing violin, viola, cello, bass and piano. Tuition is $425 and limited scholarship assistance is available. Applications are due April 22.
