APPLETON — Dedicated volunteer from Appleton Jessica Hilt recently received the Appreciation Pin from the Girl Scouts of Maine (GSME). The Appreciation Pin is an award bestowed upon a volunteer or staff member who provides exemplary service in support of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) that has had a measurable impact on two or more troops in one or more geographic areas.

“As a former troop leader and current volunteer within Knox Service Unit, Hilt has a wealth of knowledge and experience surrounding GSME and the mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character,” said Girl Scouts of Maine, in a news release. “Unfortunately, Hilt’s troop disbanded during the pandemic, but the shift in her involvement did not waiver her commitment to the service unit.”

Hilt is constantly joining committees and is always looking for new ways to pitch in wherever assistance is needed. Over the past few years, Hilt has played a major role in camporees and ensuring girls have a positive experience during them. Hilt is described as someone who Girl Scouts within the area gravitate towards due to her warm spirit and can-do attitude.
