BELFAST – Andrew Shane Jewell, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2017, at his home in Belfast. He was born at Waldo County General Hospital on May 3, 1965, to Charles A. and Barbara L. Jewell.

Andrew attended area schools and graduated from Belfast Area High School. He worked many years as a woodsman and also a lobsterman. More recently he worked as a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and knew all the good spots for catching brook trout. He also loved to go ice fishing. You could call him a Jack-of-all-trades because he could do anything, especially with his hands. Andy was known by many for his carving skills and talent. He loved to carve anything and everything with a touch of nature. He would give most of the things he carved away to family and friends just because and wanted nothing in return.

Andy was predeceased by his parents; his oldest sister, Charliss Jewell Wilt; an infant brother, Kenyon S. Jewell; and the love of his life, Missy Brown. Surviving are his son, Shane A. Jewell of Waldoboro; Shane's two brothers, Travis Brown and Reggie Perrault, both of Warren; his siblings, Shannon Jewell Flood of Searsport, Randy L. Jewell and his wife, Laura, of Crescent City, Calif., Darcina Jewell Robbins of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Kimberly Jewell Ginn and her husband, Bryce Ginn, of Waldo; a special great nephew, Kyle Lemire of Waldo, who shared many good times going four wheeling, fishing and canoeing on Sanborn Pond. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Shane, Kenny, Kevin, Keri and Shelly, Eddie and Joanne, Angy and Ed, Johnelle and Jimmy, Katie, Kellie and Jason. He was also a great-uncle to several nieces and nephews and their children.

A very special thanks goes to three of Andy's best friends, Raymond Curtis, Joe Damon and Tyler Damon. Thank you Ray for giving him a home and your friendship.

A casual celebration of Andy's life will take place on Saturday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Waldo Town Hall, 629 Waldo Station Road in Waldo. For more information call Kim at 323-3078.
