Allen P. Membry, obituary
ROCKPORT — Allen P. Membry, 83, of Rockport, passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2025. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Allen lived a full life rooted in curiosity, dedication, and a deep love of aviation, history, and all things mechanical.
A proud New Jersey native, Allen was the son of Jerome and Alice (Smith) Membry. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1969, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1971. Over the years, he built a career in information technology, holding leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, NJIT, and Kean University.
But Allen was not one to be defined by his résumé alone. In 1966, he earned his private pilot's license, later taking to the skies in seaplanes, always chasing his passion for flight. He was a proud member of the Knox County Flying Club and could often be found volunteering at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, where he spent 17 years helping preserve pieces of history.
Allen had a soft spot for vintage things—model trains, antique cars, old railroads. He was a self- proclaimed rail fan and an avid restorer who believed that every nut, bolt, and gear had a story worth telling. His deep appreciation for aviation and military history wasn’t just a hobby—it was a lens through which he saw the world.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Thomas Membry. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gloria of 59 years; his sons, Erik Membry of Rockport, and Kirk Membry of New Hampshire; and a circle of friends and fellow enthusiasts who will remember his stories and wisdom.
Allen’s family will be honoring his life privately.
