Alfred W. Wood, obituary

LINCOLNVILLE — Alfred William Wood, 91 of Lincolnville, passed away at his home. 

Alfred was born June 29, 1929 in Camden New Jersey to the late Alfred and Louise nee Wood Snellbaker.  He grew up in and raised his family in New Jersey, retiring to Lincolnville Maine over 30 years ago.

Alfred proudly served an enlistment in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. During his working career, he was a pharmaceutical chemist with Merck. His personal interest included working on, driving, and maintaining antique sports cars, collecting guns, camping, and hiking. Alfred also held a 3rd degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate.

Alfred was predeceased by his grandson Alexander Wood. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Eleanor Wood; his children, Robert Wood and his wife Barbara of Oklahoma, John Wood and his wife Eleanor of New Jersey, Linda Crocetto of New Jersey and Kenneth Wood and his wife Gloria of Tennessee; his sister, Barbara Riley; his brother, Richard Wood and his wife Doris; his grandchildren Brent, Keri, Alan, Michael, Amanda, Olivia and Steven; his twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends and family may gather Tuesday September 29, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast ME. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon followed by burial in Union Cemetery in Lincolnville.
