Alan Magee to speak at Cushing Historical Society

Alan Magee will speak at the Cushing Historical Society on Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m., the lecture is free to the public.
His presentation, "The Artist as Social Critic" will highlight a selection of artists who have used visual imagery to oppose injustice, inequality, and war. From Francisco de Goya's Disasters of War to California sculptor Al Farrow's recent Reliquaries, the illustrated talk will introduce outstanding examples of dissident art from the past two centuries.
Following the slide presentation Magee will screen his short film Party Line, which comments on mass surveillance and its effects on free speech.
