OWLS HEAD — In addition to being on display and flying in the air show, the Owls Head Transportation Museum 2023 Wings and Wheels Spectacular will be offering C-47 Flight Experience Rides on The American Airpower Museum Douglas C-47 “Skytrain” beginning on Friday, August 4.

The C-47 flight experience is a chance to take a flight back in time aboard a original military configuration C-47 just as they were when they carried the legendary 101st and 82nd Airborne Paratroopers making history in the first wave of the D-Day Invasion to liberate Europe on 6 June 1944. C-47s were the primary airlift workhorse of WWII carrying paratroopers, cargo, and vital supplies to allied forces all around the globe. The C-47 would continue in service after World War Two making history in the Berlin airlift 1948-1949, providing airlift during the Korea War, airlift and special operations platforms during the Vietnam War, and operations throughout the Cold War. The C-47 is still in service all around the globe making it one of the longest serving aircraft in history.

The American Airpower Museum Flight Experience includes the following:

• Passenger Welcome, safety briefing, and Boarding of the Aircraft.
• Flights require a minimum of 6 Passengers to fly during the scheduled flight period, if the minimum is not met flights may be combined from two different flight periods. Maximum of 10 Passengers.
• The Scenic Flight Experience duration is approximately 15 minutes of flight around the Owls Head Local Airport Area.
• During the Flight you can observe the pilots in action, and will have the opportunity to interact with our Volunteer Aircrew who will provide history of the C-47 missions, and of our own WWII and Berlin Airlift Veteran Aircraft.
• Please note, All passengers must be at least 12 years old to fly. Persons 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• Admission to the Owls Head transportation Museum Wings and Wheels Spectacular is required to fly with us and not included in the cost of the flight.

2023 Wings and Wheels Spectacular is scheduled for August 4-6, 2023 at the Knox County Regional Airport in Rockland, Maine.
