West Bay Rotarians volunteer for Midcoast Habitat for Humanity

Tue, 08/04/2020 - 4:45pm

West Bay Rotarians spent a Saturday morning in mid-June working at Midcoast Habitat for Humanity's Philbrick Commons in Rockland.

We typically volunteer quarterly to work with Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, but we are trying to volunteer even more often during these tough times.  Because of COVID-19, many groups have had to cancel their scheduled work on this project, so we are trying to pick up some extra days.

Over the past few years, we have worked on everything from framing to insulation to painting on several different homes.  We never have trouble finding volunteers for these projects because we all love giving back to the community and always have fun doing it.  A couple times we actually met the future owner of the home we were working on and have even been able to work with them on their home.  That’s a real bonus for us.

This day was extra special because President Kim Milton presented a Paul Harris Fellow to Executive Director, Tia Anderson.  See https://www.rotary.org/en/history-paul-harris-fellow-recognition for more information about this prestigious honor.
