    ROCKLAND — The Oceanside and Medomak Valley girls tennis teams hit the court in Rockland on Wednesday, May, 15. 

    By match’s end, the visiting Panthers had edged the host Mariners 3-2. 

    Oceanside’s record dropped to 1-9 with the loss, while Medomak Valley improved to 5-5.

    BELFAST — The Belfast varsity baseball team hosted Mount Desert Island in a Wednesday, May 15 game. 

    Mount Desert Island slipped past the host Lions 4-2. 

    With the loss, Belfast’s record dropped to 6-4.

    NEWPORT — The Oceanside varsity baseball team hit the road Wednesday, May 15 for a contest against Nokomis. 

    By game’s end, the visiting Mariners collected a 6-4 victory over the hosts. 

    Oceanside improved its record to 2-9 with the win.

    NEWPORT — The Oceanside varsity softball team hit the road Wednesday, May 15 for a contest against Nokomis. 

    Oceanside earned a 14-1 mercy-rule victory over Nokomis. 

    With the win, Oceanside improved its record to 9-2.

    ROCKPORT — Special Olympic athletes from Knox, Waldo and Lincoln Counties gathered at Camden Hills Regional High School on Monday, May 13 to participate in a multitude of track and field events.

  • ROCKLAND — In a recent nationwide duplicate bridge tournament in which 1,465 pairs participated, local players Essie Dondis of Rockland and Anne Ayers of Union placed second overall with a 71% game.

    ROCKPORT — The Five Town Babe Ruth teams will host a fundraiser at Flatbread on Route 1 in Rockport on Tuesday, May 28. 

  • Walkers, bicyclists also welcome for Memorial Day Observation 2019

    ROCKLAND — The City of Rockland will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m., with a ceremony and parade.

    Units participating in the parade will assemble at the Rockland Public Landing at 9:30 a.m. The parade will stop at Chapman Park for the Memorial Day Ceremony.
