Oceanside cheerleaders prep for Monday’s KVAC Championships

The Oceanside cheerleaders put their routine out to the public for the first time Wednesday at the Oceanside High School first every home wrestling meet held at Oceanside West.
The cheering squad will be competing Monday, Jan. 20 at the Augusta Civic Center in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Cheering Championships.
On Wednesday they worked out some kinks, performing in front of an audience and looked like they are close to ready for Monday. One of the obvious advantages that Oceanside has is the strength of its two male sophomores, Cadden Lavoie and Thomas Curtis. Having two male cheerleaders allows the squad to perform some stunts that may not be possible without them.
This years team members are, senior, Ami Del Buono; juniors, Alexandra Nibby, Hailey Hobbs, and Hannah Loring; sophomores, Brittaney Mahonen, Cadden Lavoie, Charlotte Strong-Ames, Rachel Philbrook and Thomas Curtis; and freshman, Kaydin Fredrick, the high flyer. The team is led by head coach Hope Billingsley and assistant Nate Greenleaf.
