'Gardening for Beginners' workshop with Master Gardener Sharon Turner
WASHINGTON — A free workshop, Gardening for Beginners: Starting from Scratch with Sharon Turner, will be held Thursday, April 24, from 6 - 8 p.m, in the Bryan Room of Gibbs Library.
In this class, participants will learn about garden design, plant varieties, seed starting, mulching, composting, and fertilizing. Organic and "low-till" practices, native plants, and the inclusion of plants attractive to birds, bees, butterflies, and other beneficials will be emphasized. Handouts will be provided.

Sharon Turner is a Master Gardener volunteer, consultant, educator, and designer based in Washington, Maine. She specializes in heirloom and open-pollinated vegetable and flower seedlings, as well as native perennials, shrubs, and trees. Sharon and her son, Eli Berry, operate Crystal Lake Farm & Nursery.
