Met Opera’s Le Nozze di Figaro simulcast at Strand Theatre
ROCKLAND — A live broadcast from New York City’s Metropolitan Opera of Mozart’s timeless comedy Le Nozze di Figaro will be presented Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m., at the Strand Theatre. An encore will be screened on Tuesday, May 6, at 1 p.m.
Conductor Joana Mallwitz, in her Met debut, takes the podium to conduct an ensemble cast including American bass-baritone Michael Sumuel as the clever valet Figaro, Ukrainian soprano Olga Kulchynska as the wily maid Susanna, Canadian baritone Joshua Hopkins as the skirt-chasing Count, Italian soprano Federica Lombardi as his anguished wife, and Sun-Ly Pierce as the adolescent page Cherubino.
This opera is sung in Italian, with English subtitles.
Approximate running time is 3 hours 55 minutes, including one intermission.
The Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning Live-in-HD series has increased accessibility to Met performances for audiences around the world.
