Austrian ensemble Minetti Quartet plays Bay Chamber concert
The Minetti Quartet brings its classical music to Bay Chamber, Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m.
"The internationally acclaimed Vienna-based quartet was founded in 2003 and has steadily won admiration as one of the world’s leading string quartets," said Bay Chamber, in a news release. "They have been praised for their technical magnificence, interpretive depth, and unique artistic voice. Their Bay Chamber debut features masterworks by Haydn and Brahms."
Bay Chamber continues: "On the program is Haydn’s Quinten Quartet, named for its bold use of descending fifths. It is a work of striking originality. From its dramatic opening to the lively finale, Haydn’s inventive interplay of themes captivates and surprises. The work showcases Haydn’s genius at the height of his career, blending elegance with experimentation. Also on the program: Brahms’s C Minor quartet. It is a testament to the composer’s profound emotional depth and meticulous craftsmanship. Rich in passion and intensity, the work is a deeply moving musical journey."
Winner of many international chamber music competitions with four critically acclaimed CDs, Minetti Quartet has performed at renowned venues in Vienna, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Brussels. Invitations to chamber music festivals have taken Minetti to North, Central and South America, Australia, and Asia. Many of the ensemble’s concerts have been recorded and broadcast by international radio stations.
Minetti’s name is derived from a play by Austrian dramatist Thomas Bernhard. The ensemble includes Maria Ehmer, violin, Anna Knopp, violin, Milan Milojicic, viola, and Leonhard Roczek, cello.
