STEM Fest 2025 community day at Owls Head Transportation Museum, April 12
OWLS HEAD — The Owls Head Transportation Museum announces STEM Fest 2025, a dynamic two-day event dedicated to highlighting STEM fields, craftsmanship, fabrication, trades, and career opportunities for Maine’s students and communities. Drawing on the museum’s world-class collection and its mission to inspire innovation, STEM Fest leverages the Engineering Design Process to fuel creativity and exploration. Responding to enthusiastic community support and the drive to connect local businesses with Maine’s youth, the event has expanded into a comprehensive celebration of learning and discovery.
Friday, April 11 – Exclusive Student Day
On Friday, April 11, the museum will be closed to the public, giving educators and students statewide exclusive access to interactive exhibitor booths and activities. More than 300 students will engage directly with professionals from various STEM careers, gaining valuable insights into post-graduation pathways and the real-world applications of STEM principles. This immersive experience is designed to inspire and empower the next generation of innovators. Thanks to generous sponsorship support, transportation costs for participating schools will be covered, ensuring the day’s festivities remain free of charge.
Saturday, April 12 – Community Day
On Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (with doors closing at 4 p.m.), STEM Fest opens its doors to families for a FREE Community Day. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of engaging workshops, STEM challenges, live demonstrations, and hands-on exhibits— from antique car rides and robotics demos to engine room experiences.
"This day offers an excellent opportunity for youth and families to explore STEM careers together, try out STEM-based programming, and connect with professionals from diverse fields," said OHTM, in a news release.
Throughout the event, attendees will also have the chance to explore the museum’s extensive collection and preview new programming from the upcoming 8,000 sq. ft. EDU wing, scheduled for completion later this year.
STEM Fest 2025 is completely free, underscoring the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s commitment to making hands-on learning, exciting demonstrations, and inspiring conversations accessible to everyone. STEM Fest 2025 is sponsored by Central Maine Power.
"Their generous donation allows us to provide bus transportation and reimburse schools for field trip expenses on April 11," said OHTM. "Thanks to their support, we are also able to offer this event free of charge to Maine communities on April 12."
