The Center for Grieving Children to host educational webinar on supporting children experiencing grief
The Center for Grieving Children will broadcast an educational webinar in Portland and Sanford on Thursday, March 20, 2025. This event is designed to bring together professionals from various fields, including bereavement services, education, funeral service, hospice care, and more.
This year’s webcast will feature nationally recognized speakers, Dr. Jamie Eaddy, CT, CTP, and Doneila L. McIntosh, M.Div., M.A., LAMFT. They will lead an engaging and thought-provoking presentation on the critical role families play in shaping a young person’s grief journey. Through a culturally attuned lens, they will explore the significance of honoring each family’s unique background while providing practical strategies and tangible resources for those who support grieving children.
"Attendees will gain invaluable insights into navigating grief within diverse family dynamics and leave equipped to support grieving youth in ways that respect their cultural and familial identities," said the Center, in a news release.
Community members, professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about supporting children who are grieving or experiencing collective loss and trauma are invited to join this unique educational opportunity. In addition to expert insights, the webcast will provide a space for learning, discussion, and networking with peers who share a commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and families who are grieving.
“The Center is grateful for our NACG partners sharing such valuable information on the critical role that families play in shaping children's experience of grief, with a culturally attuned perspective honoring each family's unique context,” says Mary Bristol, Director of Programs at the Center. “Teachers, mental health providers, case managers, and all who support children will find this presentation to be valuable in their work of supporting grieving youth.”
