Achievements, badges recognized at BSA Troop 200's Fall Court of Awards
Monday, October 21, Scouting BSA Troop 200 hosted their Fall Court of Awards at the American Legion Hall on Pearl Street in Camden.
The evening began with a troop opening flag ceremony performed by the scouts.
Assistant Scoutmasters Ed Hurlburt and Matt Tepelmann were present to recognize the scouts for rank advancements and merit badges as fellow scouts, adult committee members and parents happily applauded them for all of their achievements.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed a bounty of snacks, desserts and drinks generously donated by the scout families.
Notable achievements: Three new members of the troop earned Scout Rank, one member earned the rank of Second Class, and 15 scouts earned a total of 45 Merit Badges for their work at Camp Hinds this past summer, and on camping trips, at troop meetings, and in their community over the course of the last couple of months.
Merit Badges earned by the scouts included Camping, First Aid, Emergency Preparation, Swimming, Lifesaving, Fire Safety, Canoeing, Sports, Archery, Leatherwork, Citizenship in the Community, Sustainability, Fingerprinting, Golf, Graphic Arts, Programming, and Robotics.
It takes grit, focus and determination to complete the requirements for many of these badges. The troop’s adult leadership congratulates the youth of this troop and looks forward to seeing all that the scouts will accomplish in the coming months. A second Court of Awards will be hosted in late Spring 2025.
BSA Troop 200 would like to thank the American Legion Post 30 of Camden for their ongoing support and for allowing the Troop to host its Fall Court of Awards in their hall. Special thanks goes to the Post’s Americanism Officer, Scott Bergery, for his assistance with the event.
Troop 200 is sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Camden and serves youth ages 11-17 in the greater five town area. The Troop goes on fun weekend camping trips at scenic locations across the great state of Maine almost every month, and holds youth-led meetings every Monday 6:00-7:00 pm at the church.
