Bishop Thomas Brown, the Episcopal Bishop of Maine, will be at the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston, Sunday, June 27th  for the 10 am service. He just celebrated his second anniversary as Bishop of Maine, arriving just before the pandemic struck. Under his leadership the diocese has experimented in a number of ways to keep people connected, by using zoom, youtube and other social media. Bishop Brown is originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and was serving a church in Winchester, MA, when he was called to become bishop of Maine.

He has recently been involved in helping two brothers from Beirut come to Maine to study at Lincoln Academy, in what is called the LebanontoLincoln scholarship program.

He has visited St. John's several times, now, only this time with more people present.  The service will be held outside in the tent in the side yard on the corner of Green and Main Sts. in Thomaston.   This Sunday will celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of St. John Baptist, the prophet who announced the arrival of Jesus Christ.  The feast day of the Nativity of St. John Baptist is officially on the 24th, and is at the time when the days begin to shorten with the arrival of Summer.  Six months from now will be the Nativity of Jesus, when the days begin to lengthen.
