BELFAST — More than 1,600 cross country runners from across the New England region and Canada descended upon Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast on Saturday, Oct. 5 to participate in the 18th annual Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions. 

In addition to the representation of 71 Maine teams, participants also hailed from seven Rhode Island schools, one Vermont school and four Canadian schools.
