Tue, 04/23/2019 - 9:00pm

CAMDEN — The Camden-Rockport School Board (K-8) meets April 24 at the middle school on Knowlton Street in Camden, and among the business topics, the board will hear a report that the new policy of starting school later in the morning is well received, more so at the Camden Hills Regional High School and Camden-Rockport Middle School; but the trend, in general, is positive.

The board will also consider a $16 million 2019-2020 budget, which represents an approximately $1.235 million, or 7.73 percent, increase over the 2018-2019 budget.

The Camden-Rockport Finance Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., just prior to the full board meeting at 7 p.m.

The board will also hear that Business Manager J.C. Miller has resigned and that the district is seeking a new business manager.

The full board meeting will be recorded and available at youtube.com/channel/UCrruYqHteIar_8DQCGn9LEA/videos

A report included in the board meeting packet (see attached PDF) indicates that 76 percent of parental survey respondents at the Camden-Rockport Elementary School support the later start to the day while at the middle and high schools, 85 percent of the surveyed parents approved.

The school day now begins approximately one-half hour later than in years past.
