BANGOR — The Husson University athletics department is recognizing the 2019-20 Eagle Award winners who would have been honored at the annual Eagle Award Banquet.

One recipient of the award, presented to one athlete on each team at the university, is Winterport native Maria Andrew, a member of the Husson dance team. 

“Maria Andrew is a fantastic and hard working member of the dance team,” said Husson dance team head coach Hillary Hoyt. “She comes to every practice and event ready to go. Not only is she a talented dancer, but she works hard in all aspects of school and truly shows what a student-athlete should be. Whether it be a performance or competition, her energy is contagious and can help to motivate the whole team. She has been a fantastic captain this year and helped to keep the team's moral up even when our competition season was cut short! She will be missed next year!”

Eagle Award winners are named by the head coach and coaching staff, according to the university.

“This honor is presented to those student-athletes who stand out as exemplary teammates and show what it means to be a true ‘Husson Eagle,’” the university shared.
