ROCKLAND — Senior Buddhist teacher Shastri Veit Weber will offer Shambhala Level I training at Rockland Shambhala the weekend of January 25 - 27. The program introduces participants to the practice of mindfulness-awareness meditation and the Shambhala path of warriorship.

Rockland Shambhala is located at 16 School Street in Rockland. The training starts Friday evening, at 7 p.m., and runs through mid-day on Sunday. It is open to everyone by donation. Registration is required.

Shambhala Level I, also known as The Art of Being Human, is the first training in the Way of Shambhala path.

The weekend includes meditation instruction, talks, group discussion, guided contemplative practice, and one-on-one instruction. Participants will explore the themes of basic goodness, fearlessness, and compassion. The training is beneficial to beginners and experienced practitioners.

Rockland Shambhala is affiliated with Shambhala International, a nonprofit organization with more than 200 Shambhala Meditation Centers worldwide. Chogyam Tungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist master, founded Shambhala in the United States in 1970.
