Waldoboro police beat: Thefts of shrubs, rocking chair, medication; speeding, 120 mph
Waldoboro officer’s responded to 313 calls for service from Aug. 20 to Sept. 1. Below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Aug. 20
Officer Larry Hesseltine issued a summons Terrence Martin, 81, of Rockland, for the theft of a $35 shrub from the Moose Crossing.
Chief William Labombarde is investigating a burglary report.
Aug. 21
Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 10 a.m. Madison Mcintosh, 27, of Warren, was driving a 2005 Dodge sedan. Shannon Chase, 43, of Rockport, was driving a 2013 Honda sedan. There were no injuries.Mcintosh was stopped headed west on the Atlantic Highway, making a left turn into a driveway. Chase was traveling west on the Atlantic Highway, failed to see the Dodge stopped signaling to turn left and ran into the back of it.
Aug. 22
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a possible theft of wood on the Winslow’s Mills Road, with negative contact with the truck.
Sergeant Jamie Wilson is investigating a report of threatening.
Aug. 25
Fuller investigated a burglary/theft complaint.
Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Washington Road at 10:25 p.m. A 15 year old male, was driving a 2009 Dodge sedan. There were no injuries. He was traveling south at a high rate of speed. Operator said he was going 120 mph when he lost control and went off the left side of the roadway. He struck stumps and a rock, which sent him airborne, hitting a utility pole and snapping it in half. The vehicle rolled over and came back onto its wheels before hitting a large stump and coming to rest. Possible pending charges.

Labombarde investigated a complaint of criminal mischief to a residence.
Labombarde investigated the theft of a wicker rocking chair.
Officer Christopher Spear investigated the theft of medication.
Aug. 28
Officer Andrew Santheson arrested Jaymelynn Smith, 23, of Waldoboro, for domestic violence assault.
Hesseltine arrested Philip Libby, 27, of Waldoboro, on seven warrants.
Hesseltine is investigating a report of a computer scam. A female subject called claiming to be from Microsoft, with his permission took over his computer and then asked for $800 to fix computer. People should be made aware that this is a scam.
Labombarde summonsed Douglass Gladden, III, 50, of Windsor, for uninspected motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle.
Aug. 29
Fuller is investigating a report of harassment on Facebook.
Fuller summonsed Earl Leathers, 28, of Waldoboro, for operating after suspension or revocation.
Hesseltine is investigating a report that someone broke into a house and stole some items.
Aug. 30
Fuller is investigating a criminal mischief complaint .
Officer Thomas Bartunek issued a summons to Rebecca Graffam, 48, of Rockport, for operating after suspension or revocation.
Aug. 31
Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Orff’s Corner Road at 8:31 p.m. Bruce Nichols, 48, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1998 Toyota utility vehicle. There were no injuries. Nichols was traveling south on the Orff’s Corner Road, lost control while rounding corner, crossed center, left roadway and struck trees in yard on Flanders Corner Road.

Bartunek investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 5:11 p.m. Mark Zaccadelli, II, 20, of Bristol, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling south on the Friendship Road. He lost control while passing another vehicle, crossed centerline and struck utility pole. Operator complained of pain and there is an ambulance code.
