BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity June 3-14. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    June 3

Christopher Clark, 34, of Appleton, was issued a summons for operating after suspension on Beach Road in Lincolnville.

Ian Robertson, 38, of Rockport, was issued a summons for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle on Belfast Road in Lincolnville.

    June 4

Dale S. Higgins, 30, of Montville, was issued summonses for operating under the influence and operating in violation of a conditional license on Acadia Highway in Montville.

    June 5

Deputy Daniel Perez responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Augusta Road and Bicknell Road in Belmont where the operator of a vehicle collided with an unloaded flatbed truck ahead of it while trying to pass. Jessica Maddocks, 34, of Belfast, was attempting to pass the truck, which had slowed to turn when the collision occurred. Both vehicles were westbound at the time of the incident, according to the report. When Perez spoke with Maddocks, she reportedly said the truck ahead of her had slowed to turn what she thought was right, but that as she passed the vehicle turned left, leading to the collision. Maddocks, who was operating a 2006 Saab, reportedly stated that the truck didn’t have any lights on the trailer and the truck itself only had its lights flashing.

The report notes that Deputy Perez checked the vehicle and found the lights on the trailer to all be functional. Witnesses at the scene reportedly told the same story when asked, stating that the truck was slowing to make a left-hand turn, swinging slightly to the right to ensure they could make the turn. All three witnesses reportedly stated that the Maddocks was traveling at “an extremely high rate of speed and didn’t seem to slow down at all when trying to pass.” They estimated her speed to be around 60-70 mph, a number that Perez wrote appeared accurate given the damage sustained. No one was injured in the accident. The Saab was towed from the scene due to disabling damage to the center passenger side and the truck sustained functional damage to the front driver corner. Maddocks was issued a summons for improper passing.
