Waldo County Sheriff’s beat: criminal mischief, harassment

    BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity March 20-24. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. 

    March 1 (late entry)

    Casey Palmer, 26, of Freedom, was issued a summons for harassment by phone or electronic device on Depot St. in Unity, stemming from an incident Feb. 27. 

    March 17

    Aaron M. Upton, 34, of Lincolnville, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Belfast Road in Lincolnville. 

    March 18

    April M. Hutchinson, 38, of Frankfort, was issued summonses for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief on Oak Hill Road in Swanville. 

    March 20

    Deputy David Wight responded to the scene of a vehicle on fire on Dixmont Road in Monroe where a vehicle caught fire for unknown reasons. A witness said the vehicle was traveling south when they observed a “basketball-sized ball of flame erupt” under the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver reportedly told Deputy Wight that they almost immediately smelled gas inside of the vehicle and stopped in the roadway before exiting the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet, the driver opened the hood, at which time the engine compartment burst into flames. The driver was uninjured and the vehicle was destroyed by fire and towed from the scene. 

    Robert-Lynn Morse, 19, of Freedom, was issued a summons for passing a stopped school bus with lights flashing on South Mountain Valley St. in Montville.
