Trails Challenge returns for second year

With $15,000 in support from generous sponsors, Coastal Mountains Trails Challenge is back for a second year. All residents and guests of the Midcoast are encouraged to get outside for a hike, run, or bike on any trail and then log their miles at coastalmountains.org/trails from July 1 – August 31.

Every mile completed will be matched by a sponsor’s dollar, according to Coastal Mountains Land Trust, in a news release.

“We are aiming for 15,000 miles since we have been promised $15,000 to support trail stewardship year-round,” said CMLT.

Sponsors include Maine Community Foundation, the Onion Foundation, Lyman Morse at Wayfarer Marine, and Bank of America, Front Street Shipyard, and Strout & Payson.

“We will be offering some led hikes as well as virtual hikes as incentive to go looking for trails you may not have experienced yet,” said CMLT. “Stay safe, keep your distance, but #FindYourTrail and enjoy all the outdoor enjoyment the Midcoast has to offer this summer.”

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 12,000 acres, offering 45 miles of trails for public recreation.
