Event has passed

THOMASTON — On the morning of Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., the Williams-Brazier Post 37 will celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the first Armistice Day in 1919 and how it became the Veterans Day that is celebrated across the United States, and around the world, today.

“It is hoped that the Midcoast Community Band will provide patriotic music throughout the celebration,” said Post 37, in a news release.

The celebration will be opened, and closed, by Post 37 Commander William Demmons. This will be followed by the Posting of the Colors. The Midcoast Community Band will provide patriotic music throughout the program. Post speakers will treat those gathered to various talks to commemorate Veterans Day.

The celebration will be closed with the retirement in place of the Post 37 colors and closing remarks. After the program is finished snacks and refreshments will be provided for the enjoyment of all attending the program.

The celebration is open to the public, including all veterans and their families.

“Please join Post 37, as our guest, in celebrating all veterans, past and present,” said the Post.
