UPDATE: Motor vehicle crash on New County Rd turns into police investigation
UPDATE: A woman who fled the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the entrance to Maritime Farms in Rockland around 2 p.m. on Sept. 17, made her initial appearance in Knox County Court Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18.
Ashley Deahl, 35, of Waldoboro, was apprehended and arrested by Rockland Police Sept. 17 and charged with refusing to submit to arrest or detention and refusing to stop, failing to give correct name, address, and date of birth, and violating conditions of release.
Police said they warned Deahl about providing a false name after she attempted to use a family member’s information.
According to the affidavit filed in court by Rockland Police, Deahl fled from the crash scene and was apprehended by police. A police officer suffered a large cut on his finger from scrap metal while trying to apprehend the woman.
After the crash, a bystander told police that one of the women in the vehicle placed a brown backpack in the bushes. Police confiscated the bag and found drug paraphernalia and powdered drugs.
Deahl was found to be out on five sets of bail conditions and had four active warrants for her arrest out of Lincoln County. Officers found evidence of drug use in the vehicle and a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in violation of probation. That individual was turned over to their probation officer and subsequently released.
Police transported Deahl to the Knox County Jail and she remained there until her court appearance the following day.
At her court hearing, bail was set at $500 cash. She was ordered by the state to report in daily to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Deahl will appear in court again Nov. 14 for a dispositional conference. _________________________________________________
ROCKLAND — A two-vehicle crash on New County Road (Route 1), that caused moderate damage to both vehicles and sent one driver to the hospital with facial lacerations, turned into a prolonged police investigation.
The Sept. 17, 2024, 2:05 p.m. crash, at the entrance to Maritime Farms, was cleaned up relatively quickly. Yet, long after Creek Hill Towing removed both vehicles from the scene, police remained with the uninjured occupants of the second vehicle. Around 2:55 p.m., at least one of the occupants fled the scene on foot, leaving the nearest officer with a hand injury significant enough to call EMS back to the location to transport him to the hospital.
Since other officers were already on scene, they took over.
One person was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail.
