THOMASTON — With the rebirth of the Thomaston Police Department, after residents voted to keep the law enforcement agency during June elections, Chief Tim Hoppe decided a new patch for the agency was needed.

“A police department’s patch is a kin to a family’s coat of arms,” an announcement seeking new patch designs read. “It should reflect the values of the department, and the community that it serves.”

Following a voting period on four design finalists in the comments section of a Facebook post, a new patch has been selected and approved by Chief Hoppe.

A tally of the votes by penbaypilot.com revealed 25 votes for option three, 14 for option four, two for option one and no votes for option two.
