SEARSPORT — Searsport District High School’s John Frye has been selected as the 2018-19 National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations’ (NFHS) baseball Coach of the Year for the state of Maine. 

On top of being the Maine Coach of the Year in baseball, Frye will move forward into the pool of state awardees from the other seven states in Section 1 of the NFHS to be considered for Section 1 baseball Coach of the Year, and could receive consideration for the NFHS National Coach of the Year for baseball. 

Section 1 states include Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Last season, the Vikings posted a 15-4 record and won its fourth state championship in five seasons.
