Rockport teen charged with threatening girl on social media
ROCKLAND – Camden Police have charged a 14-year-old male who they say threatened a 13-year-old girl if she did not send nude photographs of herself.
The juvenile, from Rockport, was charged July 27 with terrorizing and criminal threatening, according to Detective Curt Andrick. The teenager’s name is not being released because he is a minor.
Camden Police began their investigation when they were contacted by school officials at Camden-Rockport Middle School in Camden about a student who was allegedly receiving threatening messages through the social media site Snapchat. Police then contacted the victim’s mother and spoke with the student.
The victim reported to police she had received threatening messages by the suspect on Snapchat requesting that she send nude photographs of herself. The suspect allegedly told the girl that if she did not send the photos he would rape her. He also said that he was watching her and knew her from school, according to court documents.
The girl sent the suspect some nude photographs since she was afraid, according to police.
Andrick obtained search warrants in June and July to review the Snapchat and Time Warner accounts of the victim’s and the juvenile’s, according to the court document.
Andrick declined to comment further on the investigation at this time.
