ROCKPORT — A town meeting warrant article asking Rockport voters if they favored crafting a municipal ordinance regulating short-term rentals was defeated June 8. While 194 ballots were cast in favor of the warrant article, 407 were opposed to it.

Voters also elected Eric Boucher, with 314 votes, and John Strand, 270 votes, to the Select Board. Robert Duke had received 152 votes, but he had actively withdrawn from the race after his son, Jon, had been appointed by the current Select Board as the town’s next town manager, effective July.

    Christopher Hart received 173 votes.

Marcia Dietrich was reelected to the SAD 28 and Five Town CSD school boards.

The rest of the warrant articles were approved by a wide margin, including the SAD 28 $17 million budget and $13 million Five Town CSD budget.
