Rockport Planning Board to hold April 7 meeting to discuss ordinance amendment
ROCKPORT — The Planning Board is meeting unexpectedly Thursday evening, April 7, to discuss a proposed ordinance amendment that may appear on the annual 2022 Town Meeting in June.
The amendment concerns Land Use Ordinance Section 907.3, Special District Standards.
The proposed change is to allow: “Fully-enclosed, private sport/recreational facilities (for example, hockey rinks and tennis, gymnastics or basketball courts) with frontage on routes 1, 17, and 90, may have a maximum building footprint of 30,000 square feet.-larger than 10,000 Sq.ft. These facilities are required to be set back from the road by at least 200 feet.”
“Currently being proposed is a maximum building size square foot requirement to be added that is going to be further discussed before it is voted by the town, to be sure the correct maximum building size is being considered and to ensure we are not placing other buildings into a tight situation,” said Rockport Planner Orion Thomas.
The meeting is being scheduled for April 7 at 6 p.m. via zoom if a quorum can be present. The zoom link to the meeting is here: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86912537891?pwd=b3BvMWNCbDJidzlJUmxkSnp1M1N0dz09
If a quorum cannot meet, then it will be scheduled for Friday at a time yet determined.
